Services
Full-Service Catering
We provide service personnel (servers, bartenders, and
cooks). We also provide china, silverware, glassware, linens, tables,
and chairs if needed. Paper products are included if the function demands
them.
Fresh Flowers for Buffet/Food Service Presentation
Presentation is almost as important to us as food quality.
We use fresh flowers for the decoration of all food displays and serving
trays. Some clients prefer to use a florist, which you are welcome to
do, of course.
Outdoor Events
We cater outdoor wedding receptions and other events. We
work closely with local rental companies for our client's equipment and
tent rental needs.
Personalized Menu Planning
We do not have set menus. Instead, we plan each menu according
to our client's preferences and needs. We have lists of menu items that
we offer, which we will send to you. In turn, you make your choices and
we put together a proposal based on what you have chosen and how many
guests you are expecting. Another option is for us to design a menu for
you, leaving all the worry to us!
On-Site Management
Either I (Lisa Bixby, the owner) or my partner and chef,
Mitchell Waxman, are present at all functions.
Homes or Facilities
A majority of the parties that we cater are in our client's
homes, but we are approved caterers at the following facilities for larger
events such as weddings, business events and other special ocassions:
- Archmere Academy, Claymont, Delaware
- Bellevue Hall, The Cauffiel House, and Blue Ball Barn
at Bellevue State Park, Wilmington, Delaware
- The Judge Morris Estate (also affiliated with Bellevue
State Park)
- The Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, Wilmington,
Delaware
- The Soda House at Hagley Museum, Wilmington, Delaware
- Snug Hollow Farm, West Chester, Pennsylvania
Staffing
Cost of service is based on the length
of your event. We recommend one chef for full-service parties. We recommend
two servers for up to 25 guests, then an additional server for each 20
guests beyond that. We recommend one bartender for 75 guests. We arrive
several hours before your event begins to complete our final preparations,
then service your event from start to finish and clean up for you as well.
For formal affairs, our staff wear classic black and
whites, including tuxedo shirt, bowtie, slacks and vest, and for informal
events, we wear black slacks with a white "Bixby's" polo shirt.
Alcohol
Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to sell any
alcoholic beverages. We ask that you provide all liquor, beer and wine.
We can provide the mixers, bar fruit and ice for you. We do carry liquor
liability insurance which enables us to provide bartenders who will set
up, service and break down/clean up the bar for you. We will provide plastic
ware at no additional charge, or can help you with your glass rental needs.
We can also supply you with a liquor quantity guide that will help you
with your purchasing.
Deposits
We kindly ask for a deposit at the time of booking
to hold your date. We ask for 50% of the balance two weeks prior to your
event, and then the balance is due the day of your event.
We ask for a minimum guest count 2 weeks prior to your
event. The final count is due 5 working days before your event. After
this time, your count may increase, but may not decrease.
